There is a program called phonelink that will let you sms from the tablet. Only problem is it seems that it doesn't work with every phone, so you might want to check for compatibility first.
you can make calls and receive them, but through your BT headset. phonelink will simply alert you and let you answer or dial, but you can't yet speak through the tablet. search these forums for phonelink.

The default email prog. is great i use it with my business email and personal email. But there are also other progs.

Google will work fine for what you need. browsing might not be as fast as a desktop, but fast enough.

and pdf AND word docs WILL work on the contrary of what arash said.
You can either use abiword which is still a little glitchy, or better yet install easy debian and you can have the full version of Open Office 2.4. I use it to view all my word docs, and school lectures.
there is also a docviewer that will let you view .doc files but not edit them i think, and i believe it will not show any graphics that might be in the word doc. I believe abi word also won't show graphics. Openoffice will.
