The browser may not be "mobile", but the device certainly is. I'm frequently connected to the 'net through my mobile phone, and what matters there is to keep the amount of data transfered as low as possible. Both due to cost (even more so after I checked the accumulated bill only yesterday..) and speed. And there are other reasons too, such as the limited size of the screen.
