My n810 is about 16month old and the touch screen is failing:
1) My n810 has screen creep in that the touch screen is not accurate at the top of the touch screen, it is so bad that the calibration utility doesn't register the touch (not the mention the calibration utility doesn't work well at all). It changes from day to day.
2) Some time the touch screen doesn't work at all - I apply pressure behind the screen (cant replicate the action) and some time the touch screen comes back. (its suffered a bit of abuse having 2 toddlers)

All in all my n810 has had a good life being an indispensable PMP on those 20 hour flight, a good diner table encyclopedia, a great RDP /SSH login tool, not to mention an emergency baby sitter from time to time, and commuting with out podcasts via Canola2 Media Player RSS downloads is sourly missed. (and I love the fact it hardly uses any power i.e. it is way more efficient than turning on my PC)

In the wake of the impending doom, I have installed Open ssh and found it to be a bit slow, I have now installed Dropbear SSH server and x11vnc server to gain access to the unit should the unreliable screen fail.

One solution I have for the device is:
I am running SSH - WOL on my DD-WRT router in my office, and it works great. So good in fact I am a total convert. (Please bear in mind I am not a coder I can copy code and change code to suite, - but the last time I edited a computer command was to optimize my autoexe.bat file to play Doom on my 386. I have 15 year old rudimentary DOS experience when it comes to a command prompt. ie my n810 is my intro into Linux and i am way impressed so fare.)

Dropbear SSH tunnel works well on my n810, however I need the WOL functionality. Dropbear SSH server for the n810 doesn't seem to have WOL installed. Or at least it doesn't work with the following command line customized for my PC and network.
"/usr/sbin/wol -i 192.168.1.255 AA:BB:CCD:EE:FF"

My questions are
1) How can I install WOL functionality on my n810 to work through SSH?
2) What can I do with an N810 without a touch screen?
3) Is there any advantage to installing another OS like Ubuntu?
(keep in mind I would probity need an installer)

Thanks,
Tim
