The system's (optional) swap file is always on external memory (i.e.: a card). AFAIK, the 770/800 does not allow one (at least not without major, and unnecessary, tinkering) to install a swap file on the internal storage, which is only 64MB anyway.

Secondly, putting a swap file on internal flash storage is a recipe for disaster: the increased read/write of a is not very healthy for flash chips, and if a memory card wears out, you can at least chuck it and buy a new one. Guess what happens if your internal flash fails...
