many British and Canadian schools now teach the SI style with a dot separator, which has become official in Australia.
Hmm, I've never seen a . used where a , should be (. is for the decimal place I hasten to add for the Europeans), not in the UK nor in Australia, but perhaps it's just another way of confusing children?
