My N800 arrived today, and after a quick spin my reaction is positive - feels much snappier, better screen, better audio, and the shape of the N800 is more comfortable to hold (my fingers rest nicely below the curve of the web cam providing extra support). Build quality is good.

I do prefer the old button layout on the top, the new buttons are a little on the small side and since there is no case to automatically lock the screen you now need to do this with the on/off button, which is recessed and tiny. Not very clever. The on/off button is a bit fiddly, but no doubt I'll train the appropriate digits so that they can press it more effectively in future.
