Mer doesn't have to keep up with the hardware announcements
No of course they don’t but what customers for these devices are going to run Mer, then? Apart from the diehards on forums such as this one who will insist on trying it where possible?

Aigo, Viliv and now ITG XP-Phone are all released to run Windows XP. None of them carry the intention to run Mer ‘in due course’. The big MID news a few days ago was an excitable article on how brilliantly Windows 7 runs on the Viliv. Microsoft is delighted and celebrated the fact at Computex.

Much like Linux on a grander scale,
That is all the clarification I need and explains it all really. So I shall back away and desist from raising the subject again.
