To be honest, a lot of SD cards are fairly cheaply made, and I've even had a high-end card split open on me. Particularly, Kingston's mini-to-micro adapters won't take much abuse. I dropped my N810 from chair height once, and while the machine and the card were fine, the adapter was borked. I've seen the inside of them, and they're quite flimsy.
