If you enable Qole's repository, he has a DEB on there that will set up the latest version for you (with everything).... I believe it is 0.3.1.

(Goto Application Manager > File > Tools > Catalogs > add (or new) > input the following)

Catalogue Name: Qole
Web address: http://qole.org/repository
Distribution: maemo
Components: main

Then go into browse installable, and search "tear".

If you knew all that already, then I guess it will be useful to the next reader
