Wrong again. I am supposed to open a file manager and see these image files there. Furthermore, the file manager should let me apply normal file operations to them (copy, move, delete, rename, see metadata, see content).
Sure you can do that, but the File manager is not the optimal UI for it. The optimal UI for media is different from the optimal UI for images. The File manager UI optimizes for file management tasks whereas the applications optimize for the consumption tasks.

I/we don't certainly expect users to use the File manager for consumption tasks, because there is a far better UI for that elsewhere.

In general we have things like Tracker system etc. so that the users don't need to care about about file locations.

The file manager full UI is btw a different beast than the file selector dialog.
