Wait. Marketing gibberish aside, media and images are just files. Are you telling me that the File Manager is not an optimal UI for managing files???

I/we don't certainly expect users to use the File manager for consumption tasks, because there is a far better UI for that elsewhere.
I use kitchenware for consumption tasks. I use file managers for managing files. The current Maemo File Manager is absolutely terrible for managing files.

In general we have things like Tracker system etc. so that the users don't need to care about about file locations.
From what I know about Tracker, it is going to be a separate pain for the users (think current metalayer-crawler squared). But let us not discuss Tracker here. What I find highly unusual is that we now have two Nokia employees in this thread trying to tell us that we are not supposed to manage files with the File Manager. Are you serious, guys?

The file manager full UI is btw a different beast than the file selector dialog.
Neither works well with a sizable number of files. Neither tries to maximize the number and length of shown filenames (a must for decent file manager or selector). So, both have to be fixed somehow.
