But, really, this just goes to illustrate exactly why having things in Extras is so important. When you have source packages available you're not beholden to a single maintainer to continue maintaining things. If they get hit by a bus, somebody else can step up in their place and everyone depending on them isn't left SOL.
If this was the case, he could have just released the source and let someone else do it. And this was done twice with almost identical pattern. But I doubt it would do any good anymore, there aren't many apps written with it.

@qgil, I know about the debmaster, but he really can't turn the binary packages into source.
