I'm sure he was looking at this page:

Where the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet and Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition are both listed prominently.. thereby making any casual person assume they should just work by default. There's also some some small print way at the bottom to disclaim the obvious assumption any casual user might make:

Compatible with phones and devices supporting stereo music streaming over Bluetooth wireless technology. The speakers support Bluetooth specification v 2.0 + EDR (with A2DP and AVRCP)

Product compatibility is subject to change and is dependent on the software version of your device. Check the software update availability for your device. For more information, contact the Nokia dealer nearest to you.
Given all that, I'd say that they've effectively disclaimed away their deceptive attempt to make it look compatible by default--which it's not. Any need to hack or tinker on your own part to make it work is not the same as being compatible.
