Android is an OS by Google, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Android . Garnet VM is an implementation of Palm OS, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_OS . I'm not sure if the Android version for the Nokia tablets can run alongside Maemo (like Garnet VM can) or whether you have to reboot into Android.
