Yeah also at the moment GarnetVM is usable while Android isn't on the device. There is an Android "demo" that can run in Maemo but it's useless (currently). In addition there is the NITdroid project which needs quite a bit of work but at least is somewhat usable, however it requires flashing the device (not a dual-boot solution either, to restore Maemo must flash again). I think what we are all hoping for is a usable Android within Maemo as well as a NITdroid that offers true on-the-fly dual-boot capability with Maemo. I'd also like to point out that Android is [basically] a custom Java-based virtual machine within a Linux sandbox.
