It is possible to launch specific web pages from the desktop, a la Web Shortcut, but more conveniently - i.e., control the size of the desktop icon, and have more than one shortcut.

1. Install Personal Launcher.

2. Using the desktop menu, edit Personal Launcher applet settings.

3. Drag Web over to the left hand column.

4. Edit the Web entry (the pencil icon). In the command to execute, after "browser" add a space and "--url=http://your.favorite.url".

5. Clear the DBUS Service name entry.

The Personal Launcher icon will now launch your.favorite.url in the browser.
