App Manager started misbehaving. The solution with reset the device or upgrade the firmware is the user will loose some (many) applications. Is this normal? Is this an ok solution?

Never seen Control Panel Add/Remove Apps to stop working and I program windows and unix for more than 16 years after my faculty graduation.
