Hmmm - thinking out loud here. What about using a Maemo 5 device as a pilot's companion, named 'Airman', in the spirit of 'Carman'? You could have the artificial horizon, altimeter and airspeed. The last two are fed by the GPS. Of course, this would never be a primary instrument, and distractions in the cockpit are faux pas - but it would make for a neat application of Maemo power in aircraft!
