I still think there was a clear assumption/implication in the early days of the N800 that video via Skype was going to become available, and I doubt that anyone can come up with a link from early 2007 that says
"Repeat, we have nothing to do with whether Skype ever supports video on the N800! We cannot control that!"
For one thing, as I have said before, the video support was said to be in "beta". I have never seen a major company abandon something that was in beta. Beta means "we haven't perfected this, but we will." It does NOT mean, "well, we're trying this out, but we may abandon it soon." (I would be grateful if someone would list a few major companies that have abandoned similar projects that they had claimed to be in beta.)
If someone can come up with a link that specifically says that Nokia specifically denied responsibility for the Skype video as I quoted above, i would appreciate seeing it! Otherwise, Nokia bears some of the responsiblity, probably most of the responsibility, for allowing that impression to persist.
If someone CAN come up with such a link, I humbly apologize in advance and will stop saying this.
