It's the code that runs on the WLAN CPU (I think prism45 contains an ARM inside?) itself.

BTW things seem better than I thought on that front. Apparently binary firmware can be obtained fron non-Nokia sources, and there is a project underway to create a Free version.

Because we have Kalle Valo's stlc45xx project for a wifi driver...
But note that the stlc45xx project is starting to becoming obsolete now. Not a bad thing - see https://garage.maemo.org/pipermail/s...il/000157.html, and the p54 page.

Talking about Kalle Valo, you all probably know, but I just want to mention that he's trying to get N8x0 support into the mainline kernels.
Kalle Valo is my hero :-)
