1) There is an initial few second delay before you can hear anyone speak but I am told by the Gizmo devs that this is due to hardware speed limitations on the 770 slowing down the initial connection setup and there is not much that can be done about it.
I don't think this delay - that is a real drawback for current usage - is due to hardware limitation. Why the delay during the connection establishment (which is a simple network exchange) should be longer than the RTP session that needs a lot of computation to convert voice into bits ?

Remembering having used Minisip when it was available (for OS2005) this delay didn't exist.
This delay (nearly 10 seconds) makes it unusable with a real callee who thinks it's a wrong call.
At the opposite the hangup is immediate.

I have an answer : the signalisation session (SIP) isn't established directly between the client (the tablet in our case) and my VoIP provider but goes through a SIP server at sipphone (198.65.166.131: northamerica.sipphone.com).
What I can observe is a REGISTER with my SIP operator through northamerica.
This "piggyback" REGISTER sometimes failed (the reason is "wrong password" whereas the credentials have not changed within).
I need to shut down Gizmo to retrieve a normal behaviour.
Fortunately the credentials are not published onto the SIP session (the authentication is challenge/response based) but I'd like to know WHY my SIP session isn't established DIRECTLY with my provider (remember that the Gizmo interface asks for the SIP server, so why not using it ?).
Bug, feature or advertising purpose ?

Did you really observe that delay shrinks with the n800 ?
