Alas, Kindle's black and white has nothing to do with bravery: it is simply a drawback of the current ebook reader technology. I am sure that if Amazon could put a color display there they would. As to the "free" connection you have, it is fully paid up by yourself and other people buying overpriced DRMed ebooks from Amazon monopoly. There is no free lunch

I'm no expert, but I don't see that kind of courage in the N900. It combines a bunch of technological trends; I don't see anything original about it. It's just geek++
On the contrary, N900 seems to have lost a lot of the original geek factor historically associated with NITs. It now looks more like a normal Nokia smartphone, similar to 5800 or N97. As I need to replace my current phone anyway, N900 looks like a decent solution.
