I made the mistake of keeping my nokia with me in a very cold work environment (I work in a chilled meat department in a supermarket) for a week or so. Then I noticed that the battery life was going way down... like down to 30 minutes or less. I found that I had to have the thing constantly plugged in to use. The next problem was that as I was using it, the screen would suddenly go out and be replaced lots of vertical lines. I found that by gently jiggling the keyboard/screen, the picture would come back on. Iived with this for a couple of weeks when the vertical lines came back on and stayed. I checked the battery, was told that it was overcharged. So I replaced the battery, but now the device is essentially dead. I know that the battery is good (at least I assume it is), because by connecting the device to my PC I can still browse the files on the memory card. But now the screen still doesn't come on. I get the vertical line. Mostly just in the center, but sometimes along the right hand side. Last night, it started doing something weirder. Trying to get it to boot up (turning it on, and waiting as a few more vertical lines came up), the thing started to make a "telephone ringing" sound... really annoying, and the only way to stop it is to hit a key or tap the screen.
So, does anyone have an idea what the problem is, or how I can fix this? I'd really appreciate the help.
Thanks
