In the future you may want to look into either

for uploading pictures from your camera (provided the camera uses SD cards). If it's a DSLR and uses CF, a power injector plus compact flash=>usb (plus USB otg calbe) should do the trick. USB y-cable + usb=>AC adapter (of proper region) works in a pinch for power injection.
As far as wired goes. You can combine a USB otg cable + Linksys USB100M and install a couple packages and that's it.

I learned the hard way, [Navicore/Wayfinder] Map uses vector maps (download all at once) while Maemo Mapper uses raster maps which downloads tiles a few at time. Vector maps are general maps, mostly just street names, green areas for parks, etc. Raster maps are/can be satellite views showing buildings, etc.
