Because I speak from experience. I've dealt with them first-hand and seen the negative effects those involved with Maemo have already had on the platform. I know them, I've dealt with them, and it's not a purely technical issue, but also a strongly philosophical one. S60 people simply do not get open source. That ignorance can, and already has, severely damage the platform.
