Could be, but Apple is not market leader in US, and I like many other humans am not living in US, while Nokia has strong brand recognition, and is market leader, all over the world; except in US.

Now, I don't need the ethics from Cupertino or USA shoved on my throat telling me what I'm (not) able to do with my hardware. That does not mean the iPhone is suddenly a bad device (I don't think that black/white), there are workarounds, but its the principle which severely pisses me off. I feel disrespected by the device manufacturer.
