Not VAT (Mehrwertsteuer in German, Value Added Tax is the direct translation of that) of 19% when buying things or paying for craftsmen (then it is called Umsatzsteuer, which funnily translates to sales tax). Plus a variable income tax between 14% and 45% (progressive) depending on how much you earn.
