I browsed the web, checked email, and read RSS feeds. So, that's one-handed use of a landscape device that is "friggin' huuuuge" compared to the N900.

Nokia hasn't killed Symbian. It's still there, being developed. If Maemo 5 doesn't suit you, you don't have to buy a device that uses it.
