Maemo Downloads catalogue for Maemo 4 is a quite good indication what will be available quite soon after N900 ships (as existing Maemo developers port their software to Maemo 5).

On a bit longer term I'd expect N900 to have a wider range of software available than the older Internet Tablets as new hardware features (and the phone!) will make it more appealing towards end users, and so also towards developers.
