This is why I love the internet. I have no problems with disagreeing but does it really have to come with all the name calling "egomaniac", "attention whore" etc. You don't even know the person on the other side of the wire yet posters feel like making personal judgements of that person.

If you notice some of my past posts, even in this thread, I am not a huge fan of how Eldar handled this situation but I would never stoop to the ridiculous name calling that other posters feel like engaging in.

They matter because it helps one to put information in perspective. Right now it is extremely difficult to know how valuable the information is.

2) I wouldn't miss previewers who steal prototype hardware/software. I don't care if they review a new game, a space shuttle, or wireless skippy balls. They are egomaniacs who want attention or worse earn money in an unethical way while potentially hurting the hard work of the corporation who made the product because the corporation must adapt their marketing and PR to such, need to debunk BS and nonsense, must investigate where leak is and how to bust perpetrator, and so on and so on.

3) I actually happen to own copies (vinyl, DAT, CD, WAV, MP3) of a lot of music of certain genres which fans of these genres and artists would die^H^H^Hlove to have, but because I don't have permission to share these works, I do not share them. It is an ethical decision. Sometimes a difficult ethic to follow, btw, and I fully admit I made mistakes in past. Ironically, some of that music is eventually officially released. Sometimes many, many years later.

4) There is a difference between having early access legal (not the case here), having consent to write preview (not the case here), and being honest and clear about the version being previewed (not the case here).

5) That fans like previews and insider information and rumors doesn't surprise me the least, nor does it surprise me these very fans never wonder where this information came from, who got murdered or committed suicide because of such leak, what the effects are to the corporation. They too, are selfish and ignorant, and if they don't wonder what kind of software or hardware version a previewer uses that only underlines their ignorance.
