I must admit that I tested the rendering with several applications on Ubuntu and in Scratchbox configured to use Bitstream Vera. And there it works.
But it doesn't on Windows or Maemo. I'm inclined to believe the system just renders glyphs unavailable in one font with another.

Uploading DejaVu and Lucida Sans Unicode to my tablet and using this font, displaying the most weird glyphs. Unfortunately both fonts run very wide and use up much space. So I'm what's left again is Arial and Times New from Windows ...

BTW, is there a way to configure font sizes not listed in the drop down? I see 12pt and 16pt but 14pt would be perfect.
