I would have checked for an alternative job first, before resigning from the first one.. that's true.
He has been putting faith in a bright future, and this has yet to come.
But you can't blame him for asking for help.
Many people, including me, are willing to help a friend.
So yes, he was a bit reckless in doing what he did, but your post sure is harsh.
Not against you.. it seems you simply pointed that fact out, but asking for help is not tasteless at all.
