Lock means that you would be running it full tilt at 600 Mhz always.

The way processors usually work is by throttling up and down depending on what is demanded of the user at the time. The reason why I wonder about this is like your concern (though not so much the melting rather than the performance of the device). What if you engage something that requires the processor to run at a high level continously?
