Very true. But don't underestimate the power of customer stupidity. The subset of users who would know the difference and care would have to be larger than the subset of users who want capacitive.

Otherwise, its a sound business decision to just give the masses their capacitive, as it is a buzz word that can sell more units.

That being said, I don't think Nokia will do it because of problems with capacitive and alphabets outside of the standard western set.
