Dropping .org would be a trademark violation and an unacceptable use of the maemo.org logo.

Ubuntu doesn't use Ubuntu.org for their logo because they aren't Ubuntu.org, they're Ubuntu. We, however, are maemo.org. Maemo would be Nokia.
