I think the plan is to offer European style packages ie pay less if you bring your own phone or get a reduction at the end of your contract.

Word is that they will have a load of cheap all in one plans and you subsidise your phone through a 20 month loan system, which in reality means little change from before other than that the costs are more transparent now.
