So let me correct my original assessment. The last time I checked, a GPS would not work more than "2 to 3 meters from a window" whereas a magnetometer would probably work fine in a fallout shelter. It also would not work when the user is not moving whereas a magnetometer would. Would that assessment please people more?

The bottom line is that the n900 does not have a magnetometer and a GPS can not fully replace its functionality. Is that a deal breaker? Probably not for some people. But it's still a fact.
