Granted, the Axim has about twice the clockspeed of the n800, but a Quake 2 or Quake 1 acceleration would be much less taxing than Quake 3, as well. Any crafty programmers with too much time on their hands intrigued by the possibilities?
Indeed, it would be great to have 3d acceleration, but alas, we cannot. The reason is that powervr does not (at least publicly) even have drivers for linux 2.6 series or kernels, only for 2.4 series. They state that the driver architecture has changed too much. Now, I would assume that would Nokia pay them enough, they would develop it (or they may already have developed it, just not publicized it) and after Nokia payed the license fees, we could have the support. But for now, don't hold your breath to see any accelerated 3d on the N800.
