My N800 began having the same problem recently. I uninstalled the camera and when i went to reinstall it , it was nowhere to found. It's not in applications anymore Anyway i just did the shutdown/remove battery for 10minutes/reboot fix and low and behold it works! Strange little bugger. I believe Sting said it best, something about " a ghost in the machine".
