I think this is the point. If the device are boxed up, they would not be wasting time now. I think they were waiting to flash and then box. They will probably ship to retailers as each pallet is filled up of product and there will be a wide distribution of dates people actually get their devices.

If they were boxed already, they could determine a ship date and organize adds around a date. No hard date, so no boxed phones yet.

This product is launching "soft" as they say in marketing.
