Hey guys... how's everyone doing? I'm back...
before I get to the point, I want to say that I loved the maemo community before I went offline for a couple of weeks and canceled my n900 order.
I'm not here to stir ish up as they would say, but just giving my 2c.
I ordered my n900 back in September and I was promised either week 44 or earlier but definitely no later. After week 44, there were no info on the release and I had to read from talk.maemo/ Peter that it's delayed. Then after a while; my phone operator tells it's November, which was then pushed to December, and then back to today and all the confirmed emails from Nokia UK saying the 9th.
None of this is Peters fault and we shouldn't shoot the messenger, instead I thank Peter for at the very least giving us the information.
All that being said, everyone who has ordered the N900 should really look hard into the marketing team of Nokia. This is not the first time that a Nokia phone has been pushed back. In fact, point me to a nokia phone that was released on the date they promised? (ofcourse I'm talking about the N models and not the 3110 type phones).
Don't get me wrong, Nokia makes great phones but treat their customers like crap. I was promised to the world when I put in my pre-order, and now it's impossible to get anything concrete from Nokia.
Not only do I feel like they lied to me to pre-order the phone, but also feel very disrespected.
I'll admit that the n900 will probably be an amazing phone when it does come out, but there really should be something more to a company than the product they offer. For example; why are people so hesitant to buy from buy.com, instead everyone flocks to newegg? Because they know that they will treated as humans when something goes wrong. Nokia is treating each and everyone of you like chumps right now and probably don't even care about it.
I'm sure that this rant will hardly make a single person cancel their pre-order of n900, and as I watch more youtube videos I have the urge to put another order in. But, what I hope for is that people will learn from their mistake and stop buying nokia phones after this one; to teach them a lesson. To teach Nokia that we are the ones giving our money away and we are the ones paying their bills. Because obviously, Nokia has learned nothing from their previous work.
