Both composite and component video standards are analog. The difference is that composite is SD and component can be HD. Since the resolution of the n900 is 800x480, it wouldn't really be able to output hd video anyway unless it output a much higher resolution than its native resolution. If it could have done that then it would have made a really sweet portable HD video player, but I guess they have to prioritize.
