I inquired with amazon regarding the rebate issue... This was their response.
According to Amazon Customer Service, I will be eligible for the rebate, and I will hold them to this!

The actual purchase date will be the date we charge your card. This will qualify you for your rebate.

Also your warranty will come in to effect from the purchase date also.
