Latest and definately straightest answer from Amazon.com:

Thank you for taking the time to write to us today.

You could cancel your order and place it again. However, pre-orders are on a first come first serve basis and you will be placed at the end of the list again. I can't disclose any information on how many orders have been placed.

I cannot re-order the item and change the order date to today. I'm sorry if that is disappointing news.

We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry because we know low prices are very important to our customers. You can visit our pricing policies in our Help pages to read more:

Although prices fluctuate, our service does not. I hope you'll give us another opportunity to serve you in the future.

Comments:Hi,
The item that I pre-ordered now features a $50 rebate, only for people ordering after Nov 16, which seems very unfair to the people who ordered earlier, when they should be of higher priority.

I've got a simple question: I need to know if you guys keep a "line" or pre-orders. Meaning that, if I cancel my order that was placed a while back, and re-order the item THAT IS STILL NOT RELEASED, will I get pushed to the end of the line, and receive my item late incase there are not enough devices in stock on the first batch you receive, at the time the item is released?

If so, is there a possibility that you can re-order the item for me, so I wont lose my place in line? Or maybe just change the order date to todays date?

Help would be appreciated, Thanks.
