I sold my N800 tablet to upgrade to the N900. I enjoyed my N800 even though it was quite bigger, heavier, had no phone capabilities and no hardware keyboard, but it was nontheless great for browsing when no pc was available.
Now I've had my N900 for about one week, I have played around a little with it. Overall I am happy about the device and how it performs (multitasking and browsing is just great, so much better than N800 and N97 I've had for a month), but there are some bugs that I hope will be solved with the next firmware updates.
The issues I have found up to now are:
battery: I usually manage to get a full day with moderate use of wifi/3G connection enabled for a couple of hours, but a couple of times I saw the fully chaged battery get empty in less than 8 hours with the phone being idle. I could feel the battery get warm as if something was draining it fast, but no connection was active.
The second time this happened, I saw the battery starting to get empty, I rebooted the device and the draining of the battery stopped. I have the feeling that this is somehow software related (something hangs?)
wifi: occasionally the device will not find the wifi router (no, I'm not too far away). In this case I reboot the N900 and the router pops out again. This happened 2 times.
onscreen keyboard: occasionally the onscreen keyboard pops up, but it does not work, I have to close it reopen it and everything's fine. I know the hardware keyboard is better, but if I have to type something quick I prefer the onscreen one.
phone: my operator in Italy allows me to get some informations on my account (money left on account, data transferred etc.) by dialing # followed by a sequence of numbers, This has always worked on all phones except the N900. Any phone number that starts with the # simbol will give a "wrong number" error message. Trying to make the phone smarter Nokia raised an issue.
On top of this this, I think it would have been nice to be able to send sms messages from the phone menu, and reorganize (move/make new folders) the small "system" icons.
I do miss some of the applications that are available for the symbian platform... "handy safe" from epocware is one of these.
