Ubuntu also has emulators in the repositories, the gp2x wiz also advertises the use of of emulators, and there is even a javascript implementation of a NES emulator.

Because a Nokia employee advertised it. I don't think Nintendo and any other game company is so stupid to think that emulators don't exist on every electronic device out there. But if you advertise it, your going be in trouble.

It's also important to note that emulators themselves are not illegal. Roms are. The problem is the Nokia employee advertised playing classic (Nintendo) games on the n900 in a Nokia sponsored Youtube video. Very, very dumb move. Had the Nokia employee advertised using the emulators to play some homebrew then Nintendo would have no legal ground.
