You can place any icon on any desktop by pressing an empty place on any desktop. A "gear" will appear at the top. Press for more options. You can drag any shortcut, widget, or bookmark to any location.

The window border colors are controlled by the theme. You can choose themes and download others to get the one you like. Wallpaper of any theme can be replaced, so its really about borders and icons.

All the features are there. You just have to learn the new interface.
