I have been following this thread for quite some time, since I ( like most of the ppl in this community ) have a preoerder for the N900. Hopefully by us all sharing our experinces we can gain more SA ( situtation awareness ) of "all things related" to pre-oreders.
My issue with Amazon started over the holiday weekend, when they kept trying to take the payment from my cc account ( which was horrible timing, since I placed my order on Sept 17, I've been saving up for the device, but due to pushing back the release dates, I used a bit of the money towards important things, never the less the amount was not avialable but would be replinished by 1 Dec) and it tried to take the payment a total of 5 times over the next 4 days, I called the CSR to tell them about my delima and to see if there was something I could do to keep my order current, since the emails were telling me that my order was basically processing to ship. The CSR said she could put a note on my account to keep it open until the 1st, so after we both agreed that was good we hung up... just for me to get more emails of how my cc was not allowing the process to be complete. then about for hours before "the funds could hit my account" the order was cancelled...
I called Amazon wanting to know why this happend, and of course they told me due to my cc, but I told them I was aware of this, and even made preperation to keep my account open until payment by having a rep attach a note to my account. Well they then told me that is not possible since the payments are all automated...
I told them thats fine, but look for this note that was put on my account, ... they found it and apologized for the misinformation and basically said there is nothing that can be done about my
cancelled
order but I can open a new one... I politly grilled them on business ethic amoung other things, and said even if it sounds silly on my part to have thought it was fesable, it was something one of your rep's suggested and even annotated, so its up to you to hold up your part of the deal. After going around for about a minute on how they cant promise things of that nature and cant open up a closed/canelled oreder, I stated that i completly understand
and that if the order cant be reveived than I suggested to be compensated with my
re-order
of the same product. Not only for the fact that now my receipt of this order will be pushed way back in the que, but misinformation and promises of thing you cant due wont make up for me pre-ordering something two an a half months ago ( long story short i now have my invoce to reflect the discount bringing the total to $510.00).
I really wish they could have wated to try my cc but unfortunatly over the thanksgiving weekend I didnt expect them to change satus to processing, then cancel the order by monday (which is exactly when I got paid
) ...
