I agree with what everyone says, and if the hardware upgrade were substantial I may even consider upgrading. Nokia's aiming to compete with iPhone though, and outside of us, people like say, my mother and father are very aware of the fact that even their iPhone is older, they can still get updates for features their phone will support. If Nokia is looking to hit mass-market with Maemo, and it seems its gotten more attention than expected with the N900, they could shoot themselves in the foot on first impressions with the mass-market if they don't consider extending OS support on existing devices.
