I ordered from Amazon on 2 Dec around mid-day. A day later, the estimated delivery date still showed "after 25 Dec." I e-mailed Amazon Customer Svs this afternoon (3 Dec) asking if that was accurate (with the polite threat that I may cancel my Amazon order and switch to Nokia direct if that was their real expectation).
Got a prompt reply saying "Sorry, but we are out of stock. We'll update your status as soon as we get more in." I also got a "$10 promotional certificate" for my trouble. Pretty nice customer service if you ask me...
Funny thing is, just less than 4 hours later (after 10pm Central), my order status got updated. Amazon tells me to expect delivery by 9 Dec. With my requested 2-day shipping, that means they expect to ship my order on Monday, 7 Dec.
I'll be happy if that's the way it plays out!

P.S. No credit card charge yet.

*** UPDATE = Amazon Delay ***

On 8 Dec, Amazon updated the order status again, delaying expected delivery back to 15 Dec (from 9 Dec). The update said:
WHY WAS MY ORDER DELAYED?
While we do our best to adhere to our delivery estimates, our inventory is constantly changing based on information we receive directly from our suppliers. Occasionally, unexpected fluctuations in supply, delays during shipping, or changes in release dates for new products will add time to our original delivery estimate.

*** UPDATE: Amazon Delay Part Deux ***

On 12 Dec, they delayed again, this time asking me to approve of their plan to deliver by 17 Dec. We're having some fun now!
*** UPDATE: Amazon Delay Part San ***

On 16 Dec, Amazon delayed again...to 23 Dec now. My Amazon price ($450-50 rebate) is $50 better than other sources, so I'm happier waiting than going elsewhere. I WANT this phone ASAP--I don't NEED this phone ASAP!
*** UPDATE: They shipped it ***
@6pm on Fri, 18th. With 2-day shipping, they say it will arrive Tues, 22nd.
